Travisso is Leander's most upscale master-planned community - a luxury residential development set into dramatic Hill Country terrain with some of the most striking home sites in the northwest Austin corridor. Developed by CalAtlantic and later Taylor Morrison on land that rolls through cedar hills and limestone escarpments, Travisso was designed from the start to compete with Westlake and Barton Creek at a fraction of the land cost.
The community's signature is its setting. Travisso's elevated terrain offers sightlines that extend across the Hill Country - not "views of the adjacent subdivision" views, but real elevation with real sky exposure. Many homesites have 180-degree panoramas of cedar-covered hills, and the community's layout deliberately preserves these views rather than building them out. It's a design discipline that isn't universal in Texas master-planned development, and it shows.
The Travisso amenity center - called La Serena - is resort-caliber: an Italian-inspired clubhouse, resort pool with lap lanes and lounging areas, fitness center, sport courts, and an outdoor event space. It matches the community's architectural ambitions rather than being an afterthought. Homes in Travisso range from semi-custom production builder offerings to fully custom estate builds on larger lots, with prices spanning $580K to well over $2M for the finest view properties.
Buying in Travisso Leander
Here's what makes Travisso Leander one of Austin's most compelling places to buy right now - and what you need to know before making an offer.
The Hill Country views available in Travisso are genuinely comparable to Westlake Hills - elevated terrain, cedar-covered escarpments, wide sky. The Westlake version costs $1.5M to $3M+. Travisso delivers the same view quality for $650K to $1.2M. For buyers who have researched both markets and understand the commute tradeoff, Travisso is a legitimate alternative that most people don't consider until they see it.
Eanes ISD (Westlake) is consistently Texas's top-rated school district. Leander ISD is consistently in the top 5 to 10. The difference in school quality is real but narrower than the price gap suggests. Buyers who need top schools but can't justify Westlake land prices increasingly land on Travisso as the best combination of school quality, view, and value in the northwest corridor.
Travisso's commute was the primary objection before 2020. Post-pandemic remote and hybrid work has permanently expanded the number of buyers for whom a 50-minute downtown commute is acceptable or irrelevant. That structural demand shift benefits Travisso more than any other Leander community because it specifically removes the one friction point that kept luxury buyers in closer-in suburbs.
